This is a 3-day, 2-night wilderness 19-mile backpacking loop in the beautiful Grayson Highlands of Virginia. You’ll see beautiful scenery, ranging balds, hopefully some wild ponies, and summit the highest mountain in VA, Mount Rogers.

We’ll leave Huntsville AL at 5:00 AM on Friday, stopping for breakfast on the way, arriving at the Massie Gap Trailhead around 1:00 PM (ET) We’ll hike about 4 miles on day one, crossing over Wilburn Ridge (pictured) finally camping in the highlands (pictured). Day two we’ll swing by Mount Rogers, then hike past the famous “corral” camping somewhere in the Old Orchard area. Day three we’ll continue south along the Appalachian Trail back to Massie Gap where our vehicles await. Then we’ll head for home, stopping for dinner to share our highs and lows from the trip.

No gear, no problem! You can rent all of your backpacking equipment from us for just $149 per person. Just click the button “Registration and Gear Rental” and we’ll get you set up with all the gear you need.
