Powell Lake at Sunrise

Travel Day: You’ll need to fly into San Francisco the day before our adventure. (airfare not included)

Day 1: We’ll leave the airport hotel in the morning and head out for the Gianelli Cabin trailhead (elev. 8,580 ft.) stopping for a bite to eat on the way. We’ll hit the trail and hike East through a Sierra Pine forest, past a small Sierra tarn, finishing a challenging 3 miles at beautiful Powell Lake (elev. 8,695 ft.) for night one.

Day 2: Today, we’ll continue hiking East some 7 miles stopping for lunch in Whiteside Meadow. Then it’s on to Toe Jam Lake, a warm Sierra lake perfect for fishing and swimming. In fact, one of our participants caught 15 trout at this lake!

Day 3: Today we begin the trip back toward the trailhead. We’ll hike a shortish 5 miles, backtracking west to a large, level granite and sand camping area at Y-Meadow Lake, the largest Sierra lake on our journey.

Day 4: It’s a quick 6 mile day back to the Gianelli Cabin trailhead, where our vehicles will be waiting. We’ll drive back to San Francisco staying at one of the hotels (reservation not included) close to the airport. We’ll head into town that evening to enjoy an amazing dinner where we’ll share our highs and lows from the trip.

Travel Day: We fly back to our homes with new friendships and new memories that can only be forged over  4 days in the Sierra wilderness together!

*Your registration does NOT include airfare to San Francisco, ground transportation to the trailhead, or hotel lodging in San Francisco. However, we can help you arrange rental carpooling.
